Crowsnest Pass deaths a murder, suicide, say RCMP

Update Feb. 10 5:50 a.m.

Autopsies have been completed on the bodies of a man and woman found deceased in their home on Friday Feb. 5, 2021. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s findings indicate that the manner of death of the 40-year-old woman was homicide, and the 55-year-old man died by suicide. The two subjects resided together in the residence.

There will be no charges as a result of this investigation, and no further information will be provided about the deceased persons’ identities or circumstances surrounding the deaths.

At 7:55 a.m. this morning Crowsnest Pass RCMP responded to a residence for a 911 call of a sudden death.  A man and woman were located in the residence and confirmed to be deceased.

The deaths have been deemed suspicious and the RCMP Major Crimes Unit along with RCMP Forensic Identification Services have been called in to assist with the investigation.

Preliminary investigation indicates that there is no risk to the public and the RCMP feel that this is an isolated incident.

Autopsies will be conducted in the coming days.  A further update will be provided following the autopsies.
