Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit traffic stop leads to arrest and drug seizure

On Mar. 28, 2021 at approximately 11:45 p.m. the Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) was conducting a curfew check at a residence in Grande Prairie when they observed a suspicious vehicle pull into the driveway, drop off a passenger and then drive away. The CRU unit conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and as a result of an investigation the driver was arrested. During a search of the vehicle the following was seized:

  • Two firearms
  • Ammunition
  • 28 grams of Fentanyl
  • 7 grams of Cocaine
  • A small amount of Crystal Methamphetamine

The passenger previously observed exiting the vehicle was also arrested. During a search of the individual officers located $368 in Canadian Currency.

Calvin Potter (30) and Floyd Dick (43) both of Grande, Prairie have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking x 2.

Following judicial interim release hearings Potter has been released from custody to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial court on May. 3, 2021. Dick has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial court on Apr. 7, 2021.
