Update: Edmonton Police ask public to avoid 180 St and 98 Ave while they deal with an incident

Edmonton Police say the man who was involved in a standoff with police overnight surrendered himself peacefully after seven hours. He is in police custody and charges are pending related to the domestic disturbance that originated the call.

EDMONTON – Edmonton Police currently have a residence contained in the area of 180 Street and 98 Ave after a domestic disturbance was reported.

A man is currently the only occupant of the residence, and police believe there may be firearms inside.  

Negotiators, tactical and canine units are on scene.

Media and the public are asked to avoid the area for their safety.
