Icy roads a factor in tour bus rollover near Banff

The Banff RCMP responded at 7:15 Tuesday evening to a bus rollover on Highway 1, eastbound, east of the Mt. Norquay exit.

The tour bus, carrying 24 people, including the driver and the tour guide, lost control and came to rest in the south ditch.  All occupants of the bus were transported to Banff and Canmore hospitals for assessment.

Police say the injuries are unknown, none are believed to be life-threatening.

The highway remained opened for travel, and the RCMP are no longer on scene.  The investigation into this collision continues, however, icy road conditions are determined to be a contributing factor.

Motorists are advised to travel with caution in the area due to poor visibility, icy roads and blowing snow.
