Man sexually assaults realtor showing home

LETHBRIDGE – Lethbridge Police charged Maneesh Kumar Khokar, 42, with sexual assault after he lured a 23-year-old realtor to a basement before sexually assaulting her.

The woman sales associate was sexually assaulted while showing a home to a prospective buyer on May 29.

According to police, she was working at a city show home when a man entered the property and asked to view another home down the block. The sales associate accompanied the male to the empty home and while she was showing him the basement he sexually assaulted her.

Prior to leaving the home, the victim was able to message her coworkers in the area for help and a colleague attended just as the subject was driving away. A description of the suspect and his vehicle were provided to police and he was identified and located a short time later. The man was arrested without incident.

This was a random crime where the victim and accused are unknown to one another.

Khokar was released from custody with conditions that he have no contact with the victim and is prohibited from attending any of the homes for sale by the company she works for. He is scheduled to appear in court July 16.

In order to protect the identity and safeguard the privacy of the victim, police will not release the name of the company or the specific location of the incident.
