RCMP rescue woman abducted from vehicle, Spruce Grove man charged with forcible confinement

SPRUCE GROVE – RCMP arrested a man, 23, after he allegedly abducted a woman from a vehicle.

William Jensen, 23, of Spruce Grove is charged with forcible confinement, mischief under $5,000, possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, illegal possession or trafficking in government documents, failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking, and flight from a peace officer.

On Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 7:10 p.m. Parkland RCMP were dispatched to the report of an alleged abduction at the parking lot of a local business. Witnesses reported a man smashed the window of a car and forced the female passenger into his vehicle.  The suspect vehicle then left the scene. 

The female driver of the car remained on scene to wait for police.  She provided information that the man blocked her vehicle, smashed her front passenger headlight and then went to the passenger side window and demanded the female passenger get out.  

When the passenger refused, he smashed the passenger side window and opened the door.  The man grabbed the passenger, took her to his van and fled the scene. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

RCMP received information that the suspect vehicle was in Onoway.  When members located the vehicle, it attempted to flee.  In the interest of the safety of the passenger and the general public, RCMP forced the vehicle to stop and the driver, William Jensen was arrested.  The victim was safe and had minor injuries on her arm from the glass fragments from the smashed car window.

RCMP seized a significant amount of money, crystal methamphetamine and stolen property from inside the vehicle.

William Jensen was held for a justice interim hearing and was remanded into custody.  He will be appearing in Stony Plain Provincial Court on Aug. 28.

The RCMP can confirm that Jensen and the female victim were known to each other and this was determined to be a targeted incident.
