Rocky Mountain House man, 44, charged with murder

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE – RCMP South Major Crimes charged Marshall Lawrence Stone, 44, of Rocky Mountain house with the murder of Ashley Ames and one count of attempted murder of her sister Alexis Ames.

RCMP didn’t say if he was charged with first or second-degree murder.

An autopsy was conducted today at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary.  The RCMP can confirm that the cause of Ashley’s death was the result of a gunshot wound. 

A judicial interim release hearing has been held, and Stone remains in custody.  His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at 10 a.m., at the Provincial Court of Alberta in Rocky Mountain House.

Further information will not be provided by the RCMP as this matter is before the court and to respect the privacy of those involved.

On July 26 at 7:36 p.m., Rocky Mountain House responded to several 911 complaints of a male with a gun in a residence. When RCMP arrived, the male had departed, and RCMP located one deceased adult female and one injured adult female.  RCMP South Major Crimes Unit was deployed to maintain carriage of the homicide investigation.
