Red Earth RCMP arrest two men allegedly walking down street carrying firearms

On July 9, 2020, Red Earth Creek RCMP responded to a complaint from the public regarding two men walking down the road in Loon River First Nation carrying a firearm. 

RCMP responded and were able to locate and arrest one of the suspects as he had an outstanding warrant. Information received from the public led police to a residence in Loon Lake, Alta. where the second man with the firearm was believed to be. Further investigation resulted in a judicial warrant to enter the residence. Red Earth Creek RCMP members executed the warrant on the residence, located the suspect and arrested him.

Police also seized a semi-automatic rifle that had the serial number filed off and several rounds of ammunition.

This second man was wanted out of Peace River in connection with a shooting incident, which occurred in Cadotte Lake on July 1, 2020, where the RCMP Emergency Response Team were called to assist.

 Skyle Laboucan, 20, of Cadotte Lake, Alta., is currently charged with:

·         Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number

·         Possession of a firearm and/or ammunition while prohibited (x5)

·         Unsafe storage/use of a firearm

Following a judicial hearing, Skyle Laboucan was remanded into custody and was scheduled to attend Peace River Provincial Court on July 20, 2020, and Red Earth Creek Provincial Court on July 21, 2020.
