B.C. man charged with sexual interference against children near an RV park

A Merritt man has been charged for allegedly committing sexual interference against children near an RV park in Merritt last week and investigators are looking to speak with anyone who has not already spoken to police.

On Aug, 5 24-year old Skylar Mcleod of Merrrit was charged with sexual interference, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, failing to comply with a prohibition regarding children, and two counts of assault.

On Aug. 2 frontline officers from the Merritt RCMP were called to the Claybanks R.V. Park situated in the 1300-block of Voght Street, Merritt for a report that an intoxicated man was touching children inappropriately.

When the officer arrived he spoke with several children who confirmed the information and description of the man, provided by the complainant. The man was located nearby and arrested without incident.

Mcleod has been held in custody, and is next expected to appear in court on August 6, in Kamloops.

McLeod is currently bound by previous court imposed release conditions, amongst these is a condition not to have no contact or communication directly or indirectly with, nor be alone in the presence of, any person you know to be or who reasonably appears to be under the age 16 years.

Staff Sergeant Major Steph Drouin of the Merritt RCMP is asking anyone with information that have not yet already spoken to police to call the Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262.
