Update: Semi hits car parked car along QEII near Wetaskiwn, driver of car in serious condition

On Nov. 15, 2020, at approximately midnight, the northbound lanes of the QEII highway were fully reopened to traffic.

This collision is believed to have occurred between a semi-truck and a car parked on the side of the QEII highway at approximately 6:30 p.m. and resulted in a male associated to the car being transported to hospital with life threatening injuries. The male remains in hospital with serious life threatening injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

The Wetaskiwin RCMP, along with the RCMP Collision Reconstructionist, attended the scene of this collision. The cause of this collision remains under investigation and all factors are being considered.

On Nov. 14, 2020, at 6:48 p.m., Wetaskiwin RCMP received a 911 call of a serious collision involving a semi-truck and a car on the QEII highway located in the area of the Highway 616 exit.

Wetaskiwin RCMP, along with emergency medical services attended the scene of this collision. Limited details of the collision are available at this time.

The northbound lanes of the QEII highway are closed while this collision is being investigated and traffic is being diverted at the Correction Line Road (Township Road 470) to Highway 2A. This is anticipated to continue for a number of hours.
