Edmonton Police warn public about dangerous sexual offender

EDMONTON – In the interest of public safety, the Edmonton Police Service is issuing the following warning; Russell Sikyea is a convicted sexual offender and the Edmonton Police Service believes he poses a significant risk of harm to the community, particularly vulnerable woman and, as such, have a duty to warn the public.

Sikyea is in the Edmonton area and is not subject to any court orders or conditions. The Edmonton Police Service is seeking a court order on SIKYEA given the risk posed.

Sikyea has a history of breaking into residences and sexually assaulting adult females.  He also has a voyeuristic history of breaking into residences and being found in the rooms of females, including minors, while they are sleeping. His risk for violence, including sexual violence, increases with the consumption of drugs and alcohol and he should be avoided if seen in the community.

The Edmonton Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community.
