ST ALBERT – The City of St. Albert is launching a pilot program for fire pits on driveways due to COVID-19 restrictions. Starting January 30, the City will allow fire pit use on driveways on Saturdays for the next three months.
The use of fire pits on the driveway does follow existing provincial health measures. All other measures are to be followed this includes staying home if you are sick, keeping gatherings to 10 people or fewer, maintaining a physical distance of 2 metres, keeping gatherings outside, and washing and sanitizing your hands.
The City of St. Albert will keep the pilot in place for the next 3-months, but if social gatherings are restricted back to zero, it will be cancelled.
Residents can keep fires on the driveway until midnight on Saturdays throughout the pilot. It is recommended that fire pits are propane and residents need to follow the fire pit safety guidelines already in place.
