Senior woman attacked by 3 wolf-dogs in BC

NANAIMO – A 69-year-old woman sustained serious non-life threatening injuries after being attacked by three wolf-dogs on a rural property south of Nanaimo.

BC RCMP say the incident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. on Tuesday May 25 in South Wellington.

Police, BC Conservation, EHS and Cranberry Volunteer Fire responded. Investigators learned that the three animals involved are a mixture of wolf and domestic dog and were housed in a secure pen, situated on private property.

The woman went into the pen as she has many times before, and for unknown reasons, the animals attacked her. Her husband entered the pen, provided assistance then walked her out of the pen to waiting paramedics.

EHS then transported the injured woman to the Nanaimo airport where she transferred by air ambulance to Victoria.

The animals were destroyed.
