City of Lacombe questions Lacombe Police’s deficit

LACOMBE – Lacombe City council wants to know why Lacombe Police Service (LPS) had a $238,627 deficit in 2018.

The deficit forced council to move $142,963 from the LPS reserves.

The Police Commission and city administration are working together to get answers. CAO Matthew Goudy, however, said that administration looked into the cause and it was a combination of several small factors such as a new collective bargaining agreement, a clerical error and provincial changes on how bail hearings are run and require more guard time.
