WATCH: Alberta students walk out of class in protest

Students across Alberta walked out of class Friday morning to protest Alberta’s government’s stance on school’s gay-straight alliance (GSA) clubs.

The UCP said they will proclaim the Education Act of 2012, replacing the School Act, which rolls back privacy protection for students attending GSA meetings and eliminate requirements for private schools to have policies and codes of conduct in place to protect LGBTQ students.

More than 90 schools across the province participated in the student-led protests. Teens that participated, left their classrooms around 9:30 a.m. MT for 20 minutes.
