Edmonton Police offer Motorcycle Noise Testing

EDMONTON – The Edmonton Police Service Traffic Section invites motorcyclists to bring down their rides to the NAIT South Campus Saturday afternoon to learn whether their bikes meet requirements under the municipal noise bylaw.

Traffic officers will be conducting motorcycle sound measurement testing from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 11 at the NAIT South Campus, 7110 Gateway Boulevard.

Individuals whose bikes fail the sound test will be provided an amnesty from receiving a ticket for that specific testing day, and will be expected to address the noise level of their exhaust promptly. The amnesty will not be granted in perpetuity.

The sound testing initiative  will provide motorcyclists with an opportunity to learn whether their bike is in compliance with the City of Edmonton’s noise bylaw, or if they’ll need to have their exhaust altered.
