Calgary Police searching wooded area for missing mom, daughter

CALGARY – Calgary Police arrested a suspect Thursday in connection with a missing mother and her child.

According to Calgary Police Service Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta, police seized a vehicle and executed a search warrant in Mosaic Cranston area. A crime scene unit cordoned off the area near the townhouse.

Aliyah, 22-months, and her mother Jasmine Lovett are missing from Calgary area.

Missing from a home are Jasmine Lovett, 25, and her daughter 22-month-old daughter Aliyah and police are investigating their disappearance as a potential double homicide.

Police arrested a suspect at about 11 a.m. Thursday and started searching west of Calgary along Hwy 762 near Bragg Creek and Priddis. About four Calgary Police crews are combing the area on horseback and using cadaver dogs.

Calgary Police are asking residents of those areas to check their properties for anything out of the ordinary and report any suspicious activity they may have observed between April 16 – 23.
